Depending on the physical shape of the fan (such as its axial depth-to-diameter ratio) and its mounting shaft, fan balancing is split into two primary machine configurations:
Best For: Axial fans, centrifugal fan rotors with their own shafts, double-suction blowers, and multi-vane impellers.
Why It Wins: The belt drive wraps directly around the fan shaft or an auxiliary mandrel. This delivers incredibly smooth rotation without introducing the mechanical errors or rotational inertia of a drive joint coupling.
Plane Correction: Supports both single-plane (static) and dual-plane (dynamic) unbalance correction—highly critical for wider cylindrical blower rotors where unbalance occurs on both the left and right faces.
Best For: Flat, disc-like impellers, single-inlet centrifugal fan wheels, radiator cooling fans, and blowers without an integrated shaft.
Why It Wins: Features an upright, top-loading spindle. Because these fan impellers are thin (with a small width-to-diameter ratio), they only require single-plane (static) correction. Loading the workpiece vertically onto a matching adapter plate is incredibly fast and eliminates gravity-induced shaft deflection.
